About

The Diversity in STEM Outreach Project promotes an opportunity through early intervention & exposure for students in underrepresented communities (grades k-12) to pursue STEM subjects in order to develop and prepare for 21st-century leaders in innovation. STEM helps students with critical thinking skills, analytical skills, and innovation, which are all important skills needed for economic and workforce sustainability. To ensure the presence of the underrepresented inner-city population, we seek partnerships from the community and corporations who share the vision to increase diversity in the special interest fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. The primary purpose is to impact the lives of students and teachers by bridging the gap in the areas of STEM readiness for this population in Atlanta and metro-surrounding communities.

Our Values

The core values of Diversity in STEM Outreach Project, Inc are Education, Collaboration, and Equality for local students.  We utilize our personal and professional resources to seek partnerships to change the futures of local underrepresented students.  We aim to inspire students to pursue STEM as a career of choice including post-secondary.

Our Goals

Identify operational funding to promote Diversity in STEM Outreach Program’s Mission.
Increase the appeal of STEM fields through early career exposure.
Expose more STEM career professionals to underrepresented communities.

National Recognition

2016 United State of Women Finalist for our work on Gender Equality in STEM.
